In a rather bizarre and desperate turn of events, revered civil rights leader John Lewis is using GOP talking points like “There’s no free stuff!! to criticize Bernie Sanders’ advocacy of free college tuition.
FAIL.
Here’s an example of free stuff for a corporation, General Electric, which apparently Representative Lewis is OK with:
GE said the move would have no material financial impact, with costs offset by state and city incentives and the sale of its current headquarters offices in Fairfield, Connecticut, and its offices at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City.
Massachusetts will provide up to $120 million in grants and other incentives and the city will provide property tax savings of up to $25 million. The state funds must be spent on public infrastructure, including site preparation, building acquisition costs and road and building improvements, GE said.
Yes, Rep. Lewis is not the Representative of Massachusetts, but I do believe there are one or two car manufacturers in Georgia and Alabama. I can more or less guarantee they got “incentives” (free stuff) from those States and possibly from the federal government to encourage them to locate their factories there.
So what Rep. Lewis is stating is there is no “free stuff” for the little people (that he allegedly represents) but there is an abundance of free stuff for corporations. (which actually do not need corporate welfare).
